Si è chiusa con una domenica ideale ad Alassio la seconda edizione di Vela & Motori Cup. La giornata primaverile ha richiamato molti curiosi e spettatori coinvolti nei momenti previsti dal programma tra le auto Ferrari e le barche a vela, tutte dell’associazione Yacht Classic Royal Heritage.

La giornata è iniziata con la parata delle imbarcazioni che hanno sfilato davanti al pontile del Molo Bestoso al centro del waterfront alassino, che si era riempito delle 20 auto Ferrari, un vero spettacolo seguito da centinaia di persone, con l’inchino delle vele salutato dal ruggito delle mitiche rosse del Club Red Passion Owners’ di Torino.

A seguire, approfittando dell’arrivo di un vento da Levante, dai 4-6 nodi andato in crescendo fino a circa 9 nodi, è partita la regata tra le boe su percorso a bastone, con le barche divise in due gruppi omogenei per dimensioni. Nel lato di bolina dopo la partenza si sono messe in luce Triboulet, Swan 43 Ron Holland di Riccardo Ghidella, inizialmente in testa, e Sandra, Sangermani S&S di Marco Carbonaro. Nel lato di poppa, con un nuovo gennaker Sandra si è allungata andando a vincere in tempo reale e nel proprio gruppo. Seconda Triboulet e terza Kai Zen, Elan 310 di Giorgio Possio, vincitrice del raggruppamento delle barche più piccole.

Una bella cerimonia finale, con anche i ferraristi che hanno consegnato i premi per la manifestazione, è stata la degna chiusura dell’evento. Il momento più significativo è stata l’assegnazione della prima edizione del challenge intitolato Vela e Motori Cup: si tratta del trofeo realizzato da Luca Ferron e presentato nella serata di sabato: una straordinaria opera unica che segue le linee IOR del New York Yacht Club 48 dei primi anni 70 con freccia di bellezza ispirata dal TM autorizzato dell’associazione Yacht Classic Royal Heritage e denominato ‘The Classic Hull’. Un trofeo significativo, andato alla bellissima Sandra con tutto l’equipaggio dell’armatore Marco Carbonaro.

Un altro bel momento alla premiazione è stato il premio eleganza andato a Bonita, Craglietto Sparkmak & Stephens di Claudio Carioggia, anch’essa di YCRH distinta per la presenza a bordo in regata dei due bambini di 7 e 5 anni che hanno partecipato attivamente alle manovre!

Vela & Motori Cup 2026 si chiude con un successo per il formato, l’organizzazione e la partecipazione. L’appuntamento è per l’edizione 2027 della quale saranno presto rese note le date.

Il commento dell’armatore di Triboulet Riccardo Ghidella, presidente di Yacht Classic Royal Heritage e uno dei co-ideatori dell’evento:

“Credo si possa dire: peccato per chi non ha fatto in tempo ad iscriversi. Sono state tre giornate intense, divertenti e coinvolgenti per gli organizzatori, i partecipanti e il pubblico, con una grande sintonia con le istituzioni del territorio, gli Organizzatori, il Circolo Nautico e tra i partner. Spero questo successo faccia comprendere l’importanza di manifestazioni come questa, per avvicinare davvero la vela alla gente ed ai giovani. The second edition of the Vela & Motori Cup concluded with a perfect Sunday in Alassio. The spring day attracted many onlookers and spectators, who were drawn into the scheduled events among the Ferrari cars and sailboats, all from the Yacht Classic Royal Heritage association.


The day began with a parade of boats that filed past the Molo Bestoso pier in the center of Alassio's waterfront, which was filled with 20 Ferraris. It was a true spectacle, watched by hundreds of people, with the bowing of the sails greeted by the roar of the legendary red boats of the Red Passion Owners' Club of Turin.


Then, taking advantage of the arrival of an easterly wind, from 4-6 knots that increased to around 9 knots, the race began between the buoys on a windward-leeward course, with the boats divided into two groups of similar size. On the upwind leg, after the start, Riccardo Ghidella's Triboulet, a Swan 43 Ron Holland, initially in the lead, and Marco Carbonaro's Sandra, a Sangermani S&S, stood out. On the downwind leg, Sandra, with a new gennaker, pulled ahead to win in real time and within her group. Triboulet was second, and Giorgio Possio's Kai Zen, an Elan 310, third, winner of the smaller boats' group.


A beautiful closing ceremony, with the Ferrari enthusiasts also presenting the event's prizes, marked a fitting conclusion to the event. The most significant moment was the awarding of the first edition of the Vela e Motori Cup challenge: the trophy designed by Luca Ferron and presented on Saturday evening: an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind work of art following the IOR lines of the New York Yacht Club 48 from the early 1970s, with a beauty arrow inspired by the authorized TM of the Yacht Classic Royal Heritage association and named 'The Classic Hull'. A significant trophy went to the beautiful Sandra and her entire crew, owner Marco Carbonaro.


Another beautiful moment at the awards ceremony was the Elegance Award, which went to Bonita, Craglietto Sparkmak & Stephens, owned by Claudio Carioggia. The YCRH team also stood out for having two children, aged 7 and 5, on board during the race, actively participating in the maneuvers!

The 2026 Vela & Motori Cup concluded with a success in terms of format, organization, and participation. The next event is the 2027 edition, whose dates will be announced soon.


Triboulet owner Riccardo Ghidella, president of Yacht Classic Royal Heritage and one of the event's co-founders, commented:

These were three intense, fun, and engaging days for the organizers, participants, and the public, with great harmony between local institutions, the organizers, the Circolo Nautico, and our partners.
