Technical specifications
The Swan 39 is the first sailing ship designed by Ron Holland for Nautor's Swan, built in 33 units (12 racing, 21 cruiser).
The production boat was based on Ron Holland's IOR IMP project, flag of the United States of America at the Admiral's Cup of '77 and '79.
The factory hull speed is 7.52 knots (13.93 km/h) and a PHRF handicap of 78-87.
The first Swan World Cup was held between August and September 1980, off the coast of Porto Cervo, Sardinia, with the participation of 59 Swan boats. The overall winner was an Italian Swan 39 called Black Swan.
