YACHT CLASSIC RH - VELA & MOTORI CUP/ CNAM CENTENARY

Ben sei velieri della Flotta Royal Heritage hanno partecipato con grande successo alla Regata del Centenario CNAM di Alassio svoltosi dall’8 all’11 maggio, prima edizione della nuova Vela & Motori Cup, animandola sia per loro vittorie sportive, che per la disponibilità data alla Città ed al Circolo di ospitare un Happening con giovani e famiglie, cuore del loro obiettivo associativo ed in cui i protagonisti d’eccezione sono stati il celebre fumettista e navigatore Davide Besana ed il creativo Lele Panzeri, di ‘Sailors for Kids’.

L’Associazione Yacht Classic RH unisce armatori e amanti della vela classica, desiderosi di raccontare le avventure dei propri splendidi velieri contestualizzandole alla storia, arte, letteratura, cinema e musica dell’epoca in cui sono stati realizzati, per avvicinare i giovani alla vela ed alle professioni nautiche, nonché per valorizzare il territorio che ospita gli eventi.

Nel corso dell’evento, gli equipaggi si sono messi in gioco sia nella parte sportiva che nell’accoglienza.

In regata, l’Associazione ha visto vittoriosa nella categoria “Classiche” una delle gemme della propria Flotta, Sandra, di Marco Carbonaro, splendido Sangermani Sparkman & Stephens del 1972, anche premiata quale imbarcazione più elegante della sua categoria.

Grande interesse ha poi suscitato il particolare mix di giovani e senior nell’equipaggio di Triboulet di Riccardo Ghidella. Storica n. 1 dello Swan 43 del 1985, progettata nel 1984 dal celebre Ron Holland, Triboulet si è classificata seconda in assoluto e nella categoria Cruiser (in cui erano anche raggruppati i Classic IOR post 1984 come Triboulet), sfiorando la vittoria nella seconda e terza regata in cui era in testa fino all’annullamento per eccessivo calo di vento. A guidare il giovane team di Triboulet i grandi master Luca Bonjean, Rinaldo Agostini e, per l’occasione, lo stesso Davide Besana.

Il premio speciale della giuria per l’equipaggio più giovane è stato poi stato aggiudicato dalla splendida Bonita di Claudio Carioggia, un Craglietto Sparkman & Stephens costruito per la One Ton Cup di Porto Cervo del 1973. L’equipaggio in parata, formato da Claudio, Sua Moglie e i due Figli di 6 e 4 anni si è destreggiato abilmente avvalendosi del potenziale dei suoi piccoli marinai.

Tra i velieri di Yacht Classic RH, hanno inoltre partecipato con importante performance unita ad azione sociale: A Blue Shadow, del giovane armatore Leonardo Selmi, magnifica Alpa 11,50 Sparkman & Stephens del 1982, fuoriserie da un modello presentato nel 1971; Daimadda, storico Grand Soleil 34 del 1976 dell’armatore Marco Zidarich, disegnato da Jean Finot per il leggendario Cantiere del Pardo nel 1972; Hivaoa, di Cesare Piana, uno stupendo First 30 del 1980 disegnato da André Mauric nel 1973.

Per concludere alla grandissima l’evento di Alassio per la parte Yacht Classic RH, è intervenuto il grande fumettista Davide Besana con l’art creator Lele Panzeri di ‘Sailors for kids’ associazione partner della Flotta RH, con una divertentissima lezione in cui hanno unito disegno e vela, coinvolgendo e intrattenendo i piccoli delle scuole della città con le loro famiglie. ‘Sailors for Kids’ ha infatti la missione di avvicinare i più giovani alla vela e all’arte dell’espressione, tramite il disegno e stringendo una fruttuosa sinergia con Yacht Classic RH.

Commenta Riccardo Ghidella, coordinatore della Flotta: “Siamo custodi di valori e di storia e sentiamo nostro dovere condividere questo dono con i più giovani, come in questa magnifica Regata del Centenaro CNAM. La vela classica necessita infatti sempre più di nuove generazioni che se ne appassionino e di professionalità artigiane specializzate che la supportino. Per questo stiamo aggregando armatori che, unendosi alla Flotta ed operando con i nostri partner, scelgano di agire insieme sulla base di valori come l’inclusione, il rispetto della Persona e del Creato. Noi crediamo in una vela classica che per il suo ruolo ed il suo futuro, negli eventi, raduni e regate, sia anche strumento di divulgazione culturale e formazione per i giovani ed il territorio “.

Entusiasmo per l’evento e l’azione svolta dalla Flotta ad Alassio da tutti gli armatori ed equipaggi dell’Associazione.

“In questa sua prima regata, il nostro equipaggio, seppur composto principalmente da neofiti e amici, è riuscito a dare il meglio di sé, a divertirsi, a legare nella difficoltà e ad accogliere con gli altri equipaggi i bimbi dell’happening. Una bella scuola di vita. La vela unisce e per questo è doveroso per noi giovani viverla, raccontarla e fare sì che chi non l’ha ancora incontrata se ne possa innamorare” afferma Vittorio Maria Ghidella, membro dell’equipaggio di Triboulet.

Asserisce Cesare Piana, armatore di Hivaoa: “È stato un grande onore per noi di ‘Vela Pop’ partecipare a questo bellissimo evento. Hivaoa e le altre meravigliose imbarcazioni della nostra associazione Yacht Classic RH sono state accolte come delle regine nel meraviglioso borgo di Alassio da un’organizzazione impeccabile e da una sinergia importante con la nostra Flotta. Complimenti a tutti ed un modello per il futuro!”

In questi giorni abbiamo anche celebrato il centenario del CNAM, la cui manifestazione Vela & Motori, ha rappresentato un’occasione perfetta per la Flotta di fare il suo esordio!”

Il sindaco di Alassio Marco Melgrati e l'assessore allo Sport Roberta Zucchinetti concordano: «La prima edizione di Vela&Motori Cup ha rappresentato una manifestazione di grande importanza per la nostra città, che con un evento di altissimo profilo ha tributato un omaggio speciale al Circolo Nautico “Al Mare” nell’anno del suo centenario. Questa ricorrenza è stata l’occasione ideale per rafforzare sinergie preziose con enti e realtà del territorio e non solo. In particolare, desideriamo sottolineare il valore della collaborazione con la città di Imperia. Con il sindaco Claudio Scajola si è instaurato un rapporto virtuoso, che ha dimostrato quanto possa essere forte l’unione tra città vicine quando condividono asset e obiettivi comuni. L’auspicio è che la collaborazione che ci ha uniti in questa occasione possa proseguire e intensificarsi, offrendo nuove occasioni di incontro, crescita e valorizzazione del nostro straordinario territorio a partire da una delle sue più grandi risorse che ci unisce, ovvero la tradizione velica».

Con la partecipazione a Vela & Motori Cup, l’associazione Yacht Classic RH ha inaugurato il suo programma sociale 2025-2026. Six sailing ships of the Royal Heritage Fleet participated with great success in the CNAM Centenary Regatta in Alassio held from 8 to 11 May, the first edition of the new Vela & Motori Cup, animating it both for their sporting victories and for the availability given to the City and the Club to host a Happening with young people and families, the heart of their associative objective and in which the exceptional protagonists were the famous cartoonist and navigator Davide Besana and the creative Lele Panzeri, of 'Sailors for Kids'.

The Yacht Classic RH Association brings together owners and lovers of classic sailing, eager to tell the adventures of their splendid sailing ships by contextualizing them to the history, art, literature, movie and music of the era in which they were built, to bring young people closer to sailing and nautical professions, as well as to enhance the territory that hosts the events.

During the event, the crews got involved both in the sporting part and in the reception.

In the regatta, the Association saw one of the gems of its Fleet victorious in the "Classic" category, Sandra, owned by Marco Carbonaro, the splendid Sangermani Sparkman & Stephens of 1972, also awarded as the most elegant boat in its category.

Great interest was then aroused by the particular mix of young and senior in Riccardo Ghidella's Triboulet crew. Historic No. 1 of the 1985 Swan 43, designed in 1984 by the famous Ron Holland, Triboulet ranked second overall and in the Cruiser category (which also included the post-1984 Classic IORs such as Triboulet), coming close to victory in the second and third races in which it was in the lead until it was cancelled due to excessive wind drop. The young Triboulet team was leaded by the great masters Luca Bonjean, Rinaldo Agostini and, for the occasion, Davide Besana himself.

The special jury prize for the youngest crew was then awarded to Claudio Carioggia's splendid Bonita, a Craglietto Sparkman & Stephens built for the 1973 Porto Cervo One Ton Cup. The crew on parade, made up of Claudio, his wife and their two children aged 6 and 4, skillfully juggled using the potential of their little sailors.

Among the sailing ships of Yacht Classic RH, the following also participated with important performances combined with social action: A Blue Shadow, with the young owner Leonardo Selmi, magnificent Alpa 11.50 Sparkman & Stephens from 1982, custom-built from a model presented in 1971; Daimadda, the historic 1976 Grand Soleil 34 owned by Marco Zidarich, designed by Jean Finot for the legendary Cantiere del Pardo in 1972; Hivaoa, owned by Cesare Piana, a wonderful 1980 First 30 designed by André Mauric in 1973.

 

To conclude the Alassio event for the Yacht Classic RH part, the great cartoonist Davide Besana intervened with the art creator Lele Panzeri of 'Sailors for Kids' partner association of the RH Fleet, with a fun lesson in which they combined drawing and sailing, involving and entertaining the children of the city's schools with their families. 'Sailors for Kids' has the mission of bringing young people closer to sailing and the design as art of expression, through drawing and forging a fruitful synergy with Yacht Classic RH.

Riccardo Ghidella, coordinator of the Fleet, comments: "We are custodians of values and history and we feel it is our duty to share this gift with the youngest, as in this magnificent CNAM Centenary Regatta. In fact, classic sailing increasingly needs new generations who are passionate about it and specialized artisan professionals who support it. This is why we are aggregating shipowners who, by joining the Fleet and working with our partners, choose to act together based on values such as inclusion, respect for the Person and Creation. We believe in a classic sailing that for its role and its future, in events, meetings and regattas, is also a tool for cultural dissemination and training for young people and the territory".

Enthusiasm for the event and the action carried out by the Fleet in Alassio by all the owners and crews of the Association.

"In this first regatta, our crew, although mainly made up of beginners and friends, managed to give the best of themselves, to have fun, to bond in difficulties and to welcome the children of the happening with the other crews. A beautiful school of life. Sailing unites and for this reason it is our duty for us young people to experience it, tell about it and ensure that those who have not yet met it can fall in love with it" says Vittorio Maria Ghidella, young member of the Triboulet crew.

Cesare Piana, owner of Hivaoa, asserts:  "It was a great honor for us at 'Vela Pop' to participate in this beautiful event. Hivaoa and the other wonderful boats of our Yacht Classic RH association were welcomed like queens in the wonderful village of Alassio by an impeccable organization and an important synergy with our Fleet. Congratulations to all and a model for the future!"

In these days we have also celebrated the centenary of CNAM, whose Vela & Motori event represented a perfect opportunity for the Fleet to make its debut!"

The mayor of Alassio Marco Melgrati and the councilor for Sport Roberta Zucchinetti agree: «The first edition of the ‘Vela & Motori Cup’ represented an event of great importance for our city, which with a very high-profile event paid a special tribute to the ‘CNAM-Circolo Nautico Al Mare’ in the year of its centenary. This anniversary was the ideal opportunity to strengthen valuable synergies with institutions and realities in the area and beyond. In particular, we would like to emphasize the value of the collaboration with the city of Imperia. A virtuous relationship has been established with Mayor Claudio Scajola, which has shown how strong the union between neighboring cities can be when they share common assets and goals. The hope is that the collaboration that united us on this occasion can continue and intensify, offering new opportunities for meeting, growth and enhancement of our extraordinary territory starting from one of its greatest resources that unites us, that is the sailing tradition».
