Da venerdì 1° maggio a domenica 3 maggio happening per le famiglie e per il pubblico di appassionati sulle barche dell’Associazione Yacht Classic RH e sulle Ferrari del Red Passion Owners Club Ferrari Torino.
In banchina e in mare uno spaccato di storia della vela: come cambiano forme, filosofie e attrezzature. Un successo la divulgazione dei valori della vela al pubblico
Vela & Motori Cup – Alassio 2026 ha come palcoscenico le acque del Ponente ligure e le piazze di Alassio in un appuntamento fatto di 3 giorni di competizione, eleganza e tradizione. Come da programma consultabile sul sito dell’evento le mattina dal venerdì alla domenica vedranno uno spazio di ritrovo per le famiglie e i giovani curiosi di salire sulle barche dell’Associazione Yacht Classic RH e vedere le mitiche Ferrari.
La manifestazione offre un’esperienza esclusiva, capace di coniugare sport, cultura e stile.

Rinaldo Agostini, Presidente Marina di Alassio e allenatore della Nazionale Olimpionica di Vela di Atalanta 1996, che sarà anche al timone di una delle barche in gara ed il cui comandante è il mitico Luca Bonjean master di generazioni di campioni: lo Swan 43 Triboulet, dell’armatore Riccardo Ghidella, animatore dell’associazione Yacht Classic Royal Heritage, co-ideatrice dell’evento.
Le regate trasformano le acque del Ponente in un palcoscenico di tecnica e passione, mentre il raduno di auto d’eccellenza celebra l’eleganza senza tempo dei motori. L’evento si arricchisce di visite culturali, incontri artistici, happening con le famiglie ed i giovani, cene conviviali e momenti di incontro legati al mondo della vela, offrendo ai partecipanti l’opportunità di vivere esperienze memorabili in un’atmosfera raffinata e coinvolgente.

Una dozzina le barche a vela iscritte dell’associazione Yacht Classic RH, con una caratteristica che rende unico l’evento nel suo genere: passeggiando sulla banchina si nota la presenza di scafi moderni e classici, in una ideale testimonianza dell’evoluzione storica di forme, prestazioni, attrezzature. Si parte dalle linee inconfondibili, dolci e arrotondate, delle imbarcazioni di metà ‘900, progetti del mitico studio Sparkman & Stephens, di diversi cantieri storici come Nautor Swan (Manurau dell’armatore Patrick Tierney), Alpa (A Blue Shadow dell’armatore Leonardo Selmi), Craglietto (Bonita dell’armatore Claudio Carioggia), Sangermani (Sandra dell’armatore Marco Carbonaro) ). Si arriva poi all’epoca dello IOR, la regola di stazza degli anni Ottanta, con i tipici scafi contraddistinti da lunghi slanci sia a prua che a poppa, dei quali è un esempio estremo lo storico n.1 Nautor della serie Swan 43 Triboulet, dell’armatore Riccardo Ghidella, progetto nato nel 1984, dall’iconica matita IOR di Ron Holland che trasferi le linee del one-off Silver Apple, vittorioso in Admiral Cup, allo Swan 43, passando dal celebre Solaris One 48, per arrivare a barche più moderne, dal cruiser-racer Exprit, X332 disegno di Niels Jeppesen dell’armatore Andrea Magni, vincitore di un Europeo IMS nel 2000, o il Kai Zen dell’armatore Giorgio Possio, Elan 310 del 2009 progetto Rob Humphreys.
Oltre alle differenze nelle linee delle barche, la passeggiata in banchina offre un piccolo museo a cielo aperto sull’evoluzione delle attrezzature e dei materiali: dalle manovre tutte a piede d’albero sugli yacht classici, al boom dei winch e delle parti idrauliche, fino ai rinvii di tutte le manovre in pozzetto, all’ottimizzazione del numero di winch e di vele.
Da domani parte il programma: un primo happening dedicato alle famiglie su barche della flotta Yacht Classic RH e sulle Ferrari del Red Passion Owner Club Torino, fino allo skipper meeting delle 10:00, quindi l’uscita in mare e la prima regata di flotta nel Golfo di Alassio con partenza intorno alle 12:00. Le previsioni sono incerte, in miglioramento dopo una vigilia piuttosto ventosa.
Ed è una scommessa vinta per l’evento anche quella di mettere a confronto l’evoluzione storica delle vele con quella delle auto: discorsi analoghi si possono fare con una Ferrari degli anni Settanta rispetto a un modello moderno, tutte presenti e spiegate al pubblico.
La vela non è solo uno strumento di collante sociale e sportivo ma anche una grande opportunità professionale per le nuove generazioni:

L’evento avrà inoltre un ospite d’eccezione (partner di YCRH) nell’artista Luca Ferron, disegnatore e modellista velico di fama internazionale, che firmerà con una sua opera il primo premio assoluto della manifestazione. L’artista sarà disponibile a rispondere alle domande e alle curiosità del pubblico che interverrà in questo weekend.
I motori che hanno fatto la storia: le Rosse Ferrari
Protagoniste di questa sezione dedicata ai raduni di auto d’epoca e moderne di prestigio saranno le Rosse Ferrari con il prestigioso Red Passion Owners Club Ferrari Torino (partner di YCRH), guidato la Luciano Terzolo, con le sue più belle mitiche rosse.

Yacht Classic ha infatti costruito appositamente con il suo partner Red Passion, il legame ideale e tangibile per famiglie e giovani che giungeranno, avvenuto tra il passaggio dallo IOR all’ IMS presente nella sua Flotta e l’evoluzione tecnologica e stilistica fra le Ferrari degli anni 80 e le successive: un momento di incontro e condivisione culturale unico e che completa l’evento, portando a terra lo stesso spirito che anima il mare.

From Friday 1 May to Sunday 3 May, a three-day happening for families and sailing and motor enthusiasts aboard the yachts of the Yacht Classic RH Association and the Ferraris of the Red Passion Owners Club Ferrari Turin.
On the dock and at sea, a cross-section of sailing history: how shapes, philosophies and equipment have evolved. A successful initiative in sharing the values of sailing with the public.
Vela & Motori Cup – Alassio 2026 takes place on the waters of Western Liguria and in the squares of Alassio, in an event spanning three days of competition, elegance and tradition. As outlined in the official programme available on the event website, from Friday to Sunday mornings there will be a gathering space for families and young people curious to board the yachts of the Yacht Classic RH Association and admire the legendary Ferraris.
The event offers an exclusive experience, combining sport, culture and style.

Rinaldo Agostini, President of Marina di Alassio and coach of the Olympic Sailing Team of Atlanta 1996, who will also be at the helm of one of the competing yachts, commanded by the legendary Luca Bonjean, mentor to generations of champions: the Swan 43 Triboulet, owned by Riccardo Ghidella, driving force behind the Yacht Classic Royal Heritage Association and co-creator of the event.
The regattas will turn the waters of Western Liguria into a stage of technique and passion, while the gathering of excellence automobiles will celebrate the timeless elegance of motors. The event is further enriched by cultural visits, artistic encounters, happenings for families and young people, convivial dinners and opportunities for networking within the sailing world, offering participants the chance to enjoy memorable experiences in a refined and engaging atmosphere.

A dozen sailing yachts from the Yacht Classic RH Association are entered, featuring a characteristic that makes the event unique: strolling along the dock, one can observe both modern and classic hulls, offering an ideal testimony to the historical evolution of shapes, performance and equipment. The journey begins with the unmistakable soft, rounded lines of mid-20th-century yachts, designed by the legendary Sparkman & Stephens studio, from historic shipyards such as Nautor Swan (Manurau, owned by Patrick Tierney), Alpa (A Blue Shadow, owned by Leonardo Selmi), Craglietto (Bonita, owned by Claudio Carioggia), and Sangermani (Sandra, owned by Marco Carbonaro).
It then moves to the IOR era, the rating rule of the 1980s, characterised by hulls with long overhangs both fore and aft — an extreme example being the historic hull no. 1 of the Nautor Swan 43 series Triboulet, owned by Riccardo Ghidella, a design born in 1984 from Ron Holland’s iconic IOR pencil, which transferred the lines of the one-off Silver Apple, winner of the Admiral’s Cup, to the Swan 43, via the famous Solaris One 48. The evolution continues through to more modern yachts, from the cruiser-racer Exprit, X-332 designed by Niels Jeppesen and owned by Andrea Magni, winner of a 2000 IMS European Championship, to Kai Zen, owned by Giorgio Possio, an Elan 310 from 2009 designed by Rob Humphreys.
Beyond differences in hull design, a walk along the dock also offers an open-air museum of the evolution of equipment and materials: from all lines worked at the mast base on classic yachts, to the spread of winches and hydraulic systems, to the rerouting of all lines to the cockpit, and the optimisation of the number of winches and sails.
The programme begins tomorrow with a first happening dedicated to families aboard yachts of the Yacht Classic RH fleet and on the Ferraris of the Red Passion Owners Club Turin, followed by the skippers’ meeting at 10:00 a.m., then departure to sea and the first fleet race in the Gulf of Alassio, with a start around noon. Weather forecasts are uncertain but improving after a rather windy lead-up.
Another successful challenge for the event is the comparison between the historical evolution of sails and that of cars: similar observations can be made when comparing a Ferrari from the 1970s with a modern model — all present and explained to the public.
Sailing is not only a tool for social and sporting cohesion but also a major professional opportunity for younger generations:

The event will also feature an exceptional guest (and partner of YCRH): internationally renowned sailing artist, designer and model maker Luca Ferron, who will sign his artwork awarded as the overall first prize of the event. The artist will be available to answer questions and curiosity from the public throughout the weekend.
The Engines That Made History: The Red Ferraris
The stars of this section dedicated to classic and modern prestige car gatherings will be the red Ferraris, presented by the prestigious Red Passion Owners Club Ferrari Turin (YCRH partner), led by Luciano Terzolo, showcasing its most beautiful and iconic models.

Along the streets and squares of Alassio and the Riviera, the route highlights and creates a strong link between the charm and history of technological excellence and the territory. Yacht Classic has in fact deliberately built, together with its partner Red Passion, a tangible and ideal connection for families and young people attending — linking the transition from IOR to IMS in its fleet with the technological and stylistic evolution of Ferraris from the 1980s onwards. This represents a unique moment of cultural exchange that completes the event, bringing ashore the same spirit that animates the sea.
